How to Recall an Email in Outlook

Have you ever clicked on the Send button by mistake and wish you could recall the email you just sent? Or maybe you sent an incomplete message and would like to correct it? Microsoft Outlook has a very popular feature called Undo Send that lets you unsend emails within a 120-minute window.  how to undo an email in outlook You can either delete the existing message or replace it with a new one.

However, you can’t use this feature if you send your email using Gmail, as Google does not support Undo Send. In such a situation, it is possible to create a workaround that allows you to re-call your E-mails by creating an Outlook rule.

When the Message window opens, click Message > Actions > Recall This Message. This method introduces the Recall this message characteristic, which can recall an email you sent only if recipients have not read this message in their inboxes in Outlook.

When you click Recall This Message, the following dialog appears. If you want to send a replacement message, select the option Delete unread copies of this message and then choose whether to tell me if recall succeeds or fails for each recipient. If you choose to do this, be sure to uncheck the box that says Tell me if recall succeeds or fails for everyone to avoid hundreds of potential notifications to your recipients. Otherwise, you can select any of the other options that you prefer.
